Which Broken Clock is Right?
Seattle, Seattle, Seattle. It’s a confusing situation for you to be in right now. On the one hand, the Seahawks came back from a 1o point deficit and eventually won the game off a terrible INT from Drake Maye. But on the other hand, they lost QB Sam Darnold to injury in the first drive. And he would not return. While Darnold’s timetable is still up in the air, Seattle still has a viable backup in Drew Lock. Lock showed out when he needed to most. 16/22 with 187 yards and 1 TDs. Most importantly, no turnovers. This is the double-edged sword Seattle fans deal with. Darnold is hurt, and their offense will need some continuity and a jump start to keep the winning going. They still sit behind one of the best defenses in the league, but they must beat team in all phases. They got lucky against a poorly prepared Patriots team.
I certainly couldn’t see the Cardinals putting 26 on the Chargers last week. And it’s less about the Chargers being professional choke artists, and more about the Cardinals showing out early. The feeling on the Cardinals was they weren’t going to win more than 3 or 4 games. Well, you can’t win a couple if you don’t start with one. And that’s what they did. Jacoby Brissett threw for 277 yards and had 1 TD. Jeremiyah Love splashed around, finishing with 41 yards on 11 carries and a TD. Not a ground-breaking stat performance, but a great game for the young rookie. But the most important aspect of this game was the Cardinals defense. They stopped the Chargers on five separate drives, and on those specific drives, the Cardinals turned around and scored on the Chargers. Turning defense into offense. I am a huge fan of the Cardinals to maybe cover the spread or keep it close. Unless the Seahawks implode on offense, this is their game to lose.
