The Divisional Blues

The Commanders were in this game for the duration. There was never a true moment where it was out of reach. Washington was unfortunately stuffed at the goal line on a 2-point attempt to tie the game late in the 4^th quarter. Jayden Daniels had an ok day, going 18/34 with 164 yards and 2 TDs. Croskey-Merritt also found the endzone once and finished with 16 attempts for 63 yards. Nothing really jumped out to me about this Commanders team early. They competed, JD5 looks good, but they don’t have the same zip that was expected from that at the start of last year. Dan Quinn may be on the hot seat, allegedly, but I’m not sure it’s quite warranted yet. There is still lots of season left, and a divisional opponent to play this week that looked like they were much worse off than Washington.

         Dallas absolutely collapsed last week. On all fronts. Dak Prescott was truly the only somewhat bright spot for Dallas. He finished with 175 yards on 22/34 passing, with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Everyone else, the revamped defensive line, the secondary, the offensive line, their receivers and most of their skill position players, were like Casper. Not easily seen. CeeDee was able to get in on a very debatable OPI non-call, and Javonte Williams got into the endzone on a rush and pass TD. But Williams committed a taunting penalty and pushed back the FG attempt so far, Aubrey missed it. That FG would’ve made it a 7-point game. Oh well. Dallas better redo everything from last week, because nothing worked. They have an opportunity to show up for their home fans and try and out muscle a slow starting Washington team. This game is a genuine toss-up, but I’ll take Dallas because they're home.
