Vikings @ Lions: Expose the Holes

How about the Vikings, remaining as the only undefeated team left in the NFL! They beat a terrible Colts team in which they again, held their opponent to under 22 points. Green Bay in Week 1 was the only team to hit that number, every other opponent Minnesota has played has scored less than 20 points. This really feels like one of the weakest undefeated teams in NFL history. Kyler Murray isn’t doing anything special, as he concluded the game with 150 yards passing a just 1 TD. Their ground game was ok, but there is no real bell cow. Aaron Jones is fine, but age and injuries are starting to creep up. Justin Jefferson can’t even get going, as he finished with just 4 catches for 44 yards. He must have more than that in every game, as he has just 302 yards and 3 TDs this season. The Vikings have been doing what they need to do to win, but they're barely doing it. They can’t do this against a good team, right? Well, they get a good team in the Lions this week, who has a terrible defense. If there’s any shot to win, it must be on offense this game for the Vikings.

I’ll be the first to say it; the Lions scraped by in this win against Green Bay. They had some favorable call fall their way, and while that did not win them the game, it certainly helped. This was a close game all the way to the end though. If the Packers make that FG, the game is most likely in OT. They did not, Detroit responded with a FG of their own and that was the game. Jared Goff threw for 303 yards and 2 TDs, Gibbs had 140+ yards from scrimmage, and Amon-Ra St. Brown had 9 catches for 153 yards. Even Jameson Williams had 2 TDs. Once again, it’s never the offense for Detroit, it’s always that 32nd ranked defense. They allow other teams into the game, they let plays happen, and they let points come on the board. They don’t want that, obviously, but it continues to happen week in, week out. If the Lions find a defense, they will most likely be unbeatable. But until then, they remain dangerous with a real weakness. I like them to give the Vikings their first loss of the season.
