Colts @ Jags: Sell Off the Toys
Oh boy, the Colts are having a fire sale. Since their last game, they have traded Quenton Nelson, Deforest Buckner, and now Josh Downs wants out of Indy, as he requested a trade today. The crazy thing is, the Colts almost beat the undefeated Vikings as I predicted. They lost 16-10, and of course, blew their chances at winning this game. The Vikings kick a FG to go up 16-10 with 1:39 left on the clock. More than enough time to drive down the field, score, and win the game. But nope, Daniel Jones throws a pick on the second play of the drive. Jones has not had a good season, and it’s probably going to get worse as the Colts continue to clean house. I don’t give them much of a chance against the Jags, but you know how I feel about divisional matchups.
The Jaguars are coming off a loss to the Texans in London, but they had a bye week last week, so they got so much needed rest. This was another sloppy game from the Jags, in a game where they should’ve won. Trevor Lawrence had 306 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT. That stat line alone should equate to win. 5 receivers had over 40+ yards on 4 or more receptions. How did they not win?? Their defense. That’s how. The Jags passing defense ranks 3rd worst in the league, and the 312 passing yards they gave up reinforced that ranking. Jacksonville should be better than 4-2, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot and trying to run a marathon. Please, fix the defense, be succinct on offense, and close out the game! I like their chances this week off a bye and the Colts being terrible.
