Raiders @ Jets: Change Can Be Good
The Raiders have taken another step back. That is four straight losses after 3 straight wins to start the season. Basically, everything has regressed for Las Vegas. From their offense or their run game, to their defense or their pass coverage, they are struggling on all fronts. Kirk Cousins keeps having big number games, as he finished with 2 TDs and 295 yards in the air, but he is missing throws and taking sacks he’s seemingly not aware of. Their ground game totaled to just 48 yards on 17 attempts and zero TDs. There have been talks of a QB change for the Raiders, but I don’t think that makes that big of a difference. At least in the immediate future. Let Mendoza keep learning the good and bad of an NFL offense and suit him up next year. Hopefully, the Raiders can stop the bleeding and get a win this week against the Jets.
Oof, the Jets did it. They gave the Dolphins their first win of the season. This is a characteristic loss of the Jets, but I thought they may have put those behind them after some impressive performances this year. Geno Smith had 287 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 INT. Braelon Allen had 17 rushes for 104 yards. Omar Cooper Jr. had 115 yards on 5 receptions and 1 TD, and Mason Taylor caught 2 TDs. So, how did the Jets lose this game? It was their defense, which is supposed to be the backbone of this Aaron Glenn led team. They were okaying catch up from the first drives of the game. They were down 14-7 at the end of the 1st. It’s tough because the Jets offense was firing on some cylinders, but their defense was shooting blanks. I’m not sure how long Glenn’s job will last, as there have been rumors of his dismissal every week in the media. I like the Raiders here, but this is a game the Jets can absolutely win.
