Recycled Nostalgia

It was encouraging to see Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams connect like they used to back in Green Bay. Just like the good old days.  But it’s not the good old days, it’s the currently painful present for the Jets, which was made clear by Rodgers in a postgame press conference following their win last week. “A little too late.” I’d agree Aaron as well, but no need to hang your head, you probably just saved your job with that performance. Now, if he were smart, he’d try and do it again this week. Then the Jet’s would have two full weeks of good tape on Rodgers. All jokes aside, he needs to do it again, and I can’t think of a better time than the present. The Rams have the 25th best defense in the league, and they give up around 135 rushing yards a game, which is great news for Breece Hall after last week’s performance. He only had 9 touches for 30 yards and a TD, so he’s going to want some more this week. If they can keep that nostalgic connection going in New York, and keep that defense going, which is 7th in the league, they could put up a fight at home.

Another blast from the past, Matthew Stafford, doesn’t really need to play for job security. He’s got it if he wants it. He’s 6th in all QBs in passing yards with just shy of 3,500 yards and is 11th in TDs with 19 on the year. After a really weird and boring victory last week, I imagine the Rams are going to want to rectify last week’s misses this week. While the Jets have a good defense, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. The Jets are the 3rdmost penalized team in the league, and one of the most penalized defenses in the league with 16 defensive pass interferences, 11 defensive holdings, and 41 total defensive penalties. That really hurts your defense, and it has hurt the Jets this year. I don’t think the Jets can win this game unless they hold the Rams to a similar game to last week, keeping them to a low score and little offensive production. They must win on defense and then recycle last week’s offense. If they can’t do that, I don’t think there’s much chance the Jets stop the Rams.
