Pave the Road

(BUF) Losses: David Edwards (G/T), Reggie Gilliam (FB), Darnell Savage (S), Talor Rapp (S)

         It’s starting to get disappointing for the Bills. They’ve had arguably the best QB in the league for the last 5 years, (I said arguably), and they've yet to even get into a Super Bowl. They finished 12-5 last year, only to lose in the Divisional round of the playoffs against Bo Nix and the Broncos. In a year without Mahomes and Lamar in the AFC too. Bottom line for the Bills is similar to the Ravens. They brought in a new HC in Joe Brady, who served as their OC last year. They finished top 10 in both offense and defense, so this is not a scheme issue on either side of the ball for Buffalo. It’s like they know they can’t mess up in the playoffs and then proceed to do exactly that. They’ve also had some rough luck, but they're good enough to get over the hump. They just haven’t yet. Will this be the year finally? I’m going to say no, but I like their odds against the Texans.

(HOU) Losses: Tim Settle (DL), Derek Barnett (Edge), Christian Kirk (WR), Tommy Townsend (P)

         The Texans are also looking to pave that rough road they’ve been sitting on since last year. Part of that reason is because of C.J Stroud. It’s time to call B.S on Stroud. Not fully, but an explanation and better performances will be required of him. Since entering the league in 2023, Stroud’s passing yards and TDs have gone down every year, while his turnovers increased by average. It’s a huge problem because the Texans have debatably the best defense in the league, as they finished first last year in total defense. But their offense was beyond median. Middle of the pack stuff. This is going to be a great Week 1 matchup because we’re going to see which team really made effective changes in the off-season. Houston needs to return to dominance on both sides of the ball, because their offensive depth chart will be in trouble if they stutter again.
