Colts @ Steelers: Rise to Meet Your Fate
The Colts started rocky across the pond. As I said yesterday, it was one of those games you thought was over before it got off the ground. The Colts were basically ineffective in the first half, outside of a late TD and FG in the end of the first half. This clearly ignited the Colts, as they came out scoring on 50% of their drives in the second half. Daniel Jones relaxed after a jumpy start and Jonathan Taylor got rolling. Taylor finished with 95 yards on 20 carries resulting in 2 TDs. While Indy fans were probably curing out their team in the first half, like their team, they calmed down and took control of the game. It did help that a 7th round rookie came in for Marcus Mariota after a knee injury. 2 wins in a row for the Colts though, as they may have found something related to a stride. They get the Steelers, who have not been playing great football these last couple weeks.
Pittsburgh spent the entire game against the Browns playing catchup. The biggest lead came late in the 2ndquarter, as the Browns scored and made it 21-7. Rodgers was spreading the ball around to 8 different receivers, but there were clear miscues on offense. The most notable one being Rodgers cursing out Mike McCarthy for not getting a play out quick enough. I’ve seen this painting before. Rodgers would finish the game with 299 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 INTs. D.K Metcalf finally woke up, as he had 115 yards on 5 catches. The pieces are there on offense and defense, it just doesn’t seem like the team is showing up as a unit. More like mismatched parts. I am interested in this game though, as this is a win both teams need for different reasons. I like the Colts here in a closer game, as if the Colts get off the ground running, they should be clean. Look for the 13th ranked Steeler defense to try and put a halt to that and Rodgers to come out swinging.
