Bengals @ Dolphins: And the Drum Just Keeps Beating
Joe Burrow, it is time to have some sort of discussion about your play. I know Ja’Marr Chase left early with a concussion, and then later in the game, Tee Higgins gets hurt. But this is why they paid you all this money. To be able to do it with anyone, because you’re that good. And that’s the debate we arrive to. Is Joe Burrow good enough to do it without his main guys? It’s not looking so great on that front to be honest. The Benagls’ offense did their thing, running up mostly useless statistics in games they lose. Sure, Joe Burrow threw for 428 yards and 1 TD, but if your defense is going to keep giving up points, that TD number has to go up. 2 costly INTs as well. Not great throws from Burrow on those. It’s getting hard to not say Burrow falls apart when his All-Pro WR is not in the game. I’m not sure what the answer is, but it starts on defense and taking care of the ball on offense. And now looking back on it, they beat two winless teams in the Bucs and the Texans. Lots of work to do in Cincinnati. Luckily, they get Miami this week.
Miami did what I said, which is keep the game close! This did not pan out to a win for the Dolphins, but they were within one score of winning the game. So, that’s something. The Vikings scored ZERO TDs, and Miami was still unable to win the game, which is unfortunate. Malik Willis had a measly 85 passing yards on 9/17 throws. No TDs, no INTs. Ollie Gordon had a day in the newfound absence of De’Von Achane. 9 carries for 100 yards and 1 TD. I think if there is any game, they should take some shots on offense, it would be this game. The Bengals have the 7th worst pass defense in the league, allowing about 248 yards in the air per game. Let’s see Miami compete against a struggling Benagls. But, gun to my head, Bengals win.
