Tighten the Screws

Game 1 of Week 2! We can’t say things for complete certainty yet, but we are almost there. Let’s look at Buffalo first. The Bills narrowly slid one out against the Texans, and a lot of that was thanks to Mr. Allen. Josh threw for 334 yards, 2 TDs, and was 20/29 in the air. What a start for the MVP. Classic Josh Allen, he also posted 57 yards on the ground on 13 attempts, which garnered two TDs. Allen continued to spread the ball out well, hitting 7 different receivers. The Bills struggled on defense, allowing C.J Stroud to throw for 274 yards, 2 TDs, and no INTs. Their defense ended well, forcing a strip sack on Stroud, but I expected them to put this game away sooner. Once again, the Bills offense is not the issue. It’s their defense. Good win in Week 1, but they need to clean up a lot on defense to continue their upward trend.

The Lions had a similar experience to Buffalo. They almost choked a 21-point lead in the 3rdquarter. I want to rip on the Lions, but it’s time to give Tyler Shough and the Saints some love. Because oh my lord. They look like the real deal, and I know it’s early, but this was against a refreshed Lions team. Goff had a good game with 206 yards passing and 2 TDs, and Jahmyr Gibbs had 156 yards on the ground and 2 TDs himself. But like the Bills, their defense absolutely faltered when they should’ve put the game away. There is no excuse for Detroit to have to win this game in OT. And they got lucky by the Saints missing the two-point conversion to win the game. Very different conversation we’d be having if they lost. I’m taking the Bills in this TNF matchup because they won last week more handily against a better team than the Lions. I know Detroit has a high-powered offense, but if they can’t stop anyone, what’s the point?
