The Burden of Once Being Bad
HOW ABOUT THEM SAINTS. WHO DAT. I’m thoroughly impressed with Tyler Shough. The guy threw for 410 yards and had 3 TDs, on 35 completions. The Saints run game left a little to be desired, but their defense made some key stops in the second half of the game. They could’ve won the game twice; once in the 4th quarter on a missed FG to win it, and one in OT on a two-point conversion that was unsuccessful. I bring this up to highlight where the Saints are now, versus where they were. Tyler Shough was a question mark, and the Saints finished 6-11 last season. Now? Shough is the real deal, and they are competing against good teams early. I know it’s been one week, but I don’t think this Saints team is a pushover. They may give the Ravens a run for their money.
Baltimore gets their first win under their new HC against a Colts team that kind of looked dead the whole game. Lamar Jackson did Lamar Jackson stuff. He threw for 324 yards for 1 TD and ran for 40 yards and secured a rushing TD. Impressive from Jackson as he hit 9 different receivers in that game. And besides the fumble from Lamar, the Ravens still handled the Colts in their slow start. Their defense forced two turnovers too, so all three phases looked good for Baltimore. They get a seemingly tougher Saints team. But after putting up 505 total yards last week, the Ravens aren’t falling out of the gates. They are carrying the disappointment from their 8-9 season which caused them to miss the playoffs. Give me Baltimore in a close game.
