Familiarly Unfamiliar

The Packers are back doing Packer things again. Green Bay has been one of those teams that shows great performances, but they are always coupled with a weaker stretch. It’s not comforting that they start the season on a note like this. The Packers finished 9-8-1 last season and skated into a Wild Card game against the Bears. They would lose this in a close one. And that’s what Green Bay feels like. Like they’re close to being great, but they always hold themselves back. Week 1 was no different. The gameday matchup was harder than what they played. Kyler Murray at the helm? Very different than J.J McCarthy. But when Kyler gets hurt, you blow a 9-point lead in the 4^th quarter. 4 drives for Green Bay in the 4^th, zero points. Just two turnovers and two turnovers on downs. This should be a game in which they fix their errors, but since the Jets came out swinging last week, there is no easy path to victory this week.

         Rejoice Jets fans. I did say you were going to win. And, I just said the Packers would not have an easy road to victory. How about that?? The Jets looked like an actual team last week. The Titans are legitimately terrible at football, but the Jets did what good teams are supposed to. They beat a bad team handily. Geno Smith looked like the Geno Smith of old, throwing for 215 yards on 19/24 passes. Frank Reich was in his bag too. The OC for the Jets was getting everyone involved, from Kenyon Sadiq out of the backfield to lining up a fullback at WR, he had the Titans guessing. And considering the Packers are having a hard time with defense against Carson Wentz, I imagine the Jets will give the Packers trouble if they play like last week. However, I can’t take the Jets this week again. I know I took them last week and just talked them up, but they beat the Titans. If they play the similarly, I think they can beat the Packers. I don’t think they will, but I think they can. And that’s all that matters Jets fans. You’re in the game.
