Different Standards

For the moment, Jalen Hurts quells the “he can’t throw,” rumors. For now. He looked great against the Commanders, going 14/25 with 203 yards and 3 TDs. Not even a rushing TD for Hurts this game. I’d say that’s growth. They got by Week 1 with a win, but it wasn’t exactly easy. The Eagles’ defense was the anchor in the mud for them. Surprising, I know, but that was the truth. They allowed over 130 rushing yards, 164 passing yards, and 3 total TDs. The Eagles were up 14-3 at one point in the game but could not create space between themselves and the Commanders. And they gave up 2 scoring drives in the 4^th quarter to allow Washington back into the game. Cooper Dejean had a rough game. Like, a bad game. He was getting routed by everyone on the Commanders roster. They most certainly will clean it up against Tennessee. I am predicting they get at least 3 TOs that game.

         So, we kind of knew the Titans were going to play like that. I don’t care how many of his family’s assets he was willing to bet on the Titans playing better in the 2^nd half. Robert Saleh and his team were still getting crushed. I think it’s time to have a conversation about Cam Ward. This goes past scheme issues and young legs; this guy is consistently inaccurate and has a lot of trouble diagnosing defenses. Yes, it’s a new system, but we were seeing the same thing last year with worse weapons. Saleh can give the same answer he gave in every Jets press conference, “it wasn’t close to the standard we set for ourselves.” It will not change the outcome of this team. As of now, they need to get back to the drawing board on everything. Offense, defense, special teams, you name it. They need to try and do something different, or maybe just try and execute their gameplan effectively. Unless it’s a terrible gameplan. Which it seems to be after Week 1. Prepare to get scraped off the turf at home again.
