Eagles @ Commanders: A Slew of Excuses

We don’t really know what to expect from Philly anymore. They haven’t traded anyone off just yet, but regardless of if they do or don’t, it doesn’t really change the trajectory of their season. They just got beaten by Dallas 38-21, and they didn’t really have an answer for the Cowboys offense all game. They gave up 204 yards on the ground and 212 yards in the air. That’s 4 total TDs. Tanne McKee looked tentative and unsure, as he finished with 211 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. The Eagles will get DeVonta Smith back this week, barring any unforeseen issues, but Saquon Barkley hurt his back in his first game back. The injuries and losses keep piling up for this team. The one thing they will have on their side is that negative fire. Negativity is great fuel, and there is lots of that to go around in Philadelphia.

The Commanders are coming off a bye week after losing to the 49ers in Week 6. The game was close by score, as it finished 23-17 in favor of the Commanders. But Washington seems to just play themselves out of games, and it’s their own fault. Jayden Daniels has not instilled more confidence following his blunder against the Giants. I mean, he threw the ball away on a 4th down attempt inside the red zone. In the first half. There is not a reason on this planet that the ball should be thrown away in that scenario. He seems unfocused or something, but he does not seem like the same IQ driven player we saw in 2024. The Commanders were also chasing the 49ers this entire game, so Daniels 300 yards and 2 TDs don’t matter when you’re down a TD with no time on the clock. I think the Commanders win this game because their team is as hurt as the Eagles. But I’ll say it again. Divisional game. It’ll be close.
