Bengals @ Falcons: Attempting to Maintain Consistency
How about the Bengals having to battle the Titans for as long as they did? I can confidently say that was the first time the Titans had a real offense going. And no surprise, the Bengals defense kept letting Cam Ward make plays up and down the field. But the Bengals one purely because they will throw the ball 1000 times, and it will work. Joe Burrow threw for 462 yards, 5 TDs, and 3 INTs. Their run game barely eclipsed 75 yards, but Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase each had 10 or more catches and a minimum of 140+ yards receiving. Plus, they both had at least 1 TD, as Higgins had 2. Yeah, it worked against the Titans, but this will not work against every team. This was a bottom 2 defense in the league. But hey, a win is a win. They get a tougher opponent in Atlanta this week, but one they should be able to handle.
The Falcons got worked in one of the weirdest games of the year. It makes the Bears vs. Vikings game that finished 9-3 look normal. So, the Bucs won a game…without completing a single pass. You heard that right. Not one pass. They attempted 3, but after that third throw, they basically said screw that. Let’s run it all game. And Atlanta couldn’t stop it. Atlanta couldn’t get anything going on either side of the ball. Specifically on offense, where they were unable to compete with the Bucs in either the run or pass game. Both stunk. And while Jahan Dotson had 2 catches for 95 yards, the receiver with the second most yards recorded 1 catch for 9 yards. It was Austin Hooper. I think I will take the Bengals this week.
