What to Do...

If the Bills play their starters, I think they win pretty damn easily. If the Bills rest their starters, I think they still win pretty damn easily. Again, as mentioned so many times, I could be so wrong about this. That Patriots could come in an make a last stand at home for their final game, in a game where the Bills have already locked up their playoff position. It is true, Jerrod Mayo is on the hot seat a little bit, and a win here would bolster his chances at coming back next season. The Patriots are currently last in their division sitting at 3-13, and a win here would make bringing back Mayo next year more feasible. But, there is also a draft pick on the line. As we’ve discussed, teams don’t play for draft picks, but New England currently holds the number one spot. I don’t think they’ll take another QB, but it is a chance to either trade out for more capital, or to get themselves a playmaker. Maybe like, I don’t know, Travis Hunter? Lots of road to get through before that decision can be made, but it’s a tough road either way for the Patriots. I’m not sure what they will do, but I know they’ll want to beat their division rivals at home, considering they’ll most likely have their backups in which would just add more fuel to my fire. Probably New England’s too. Let’s see how they do.
I think I made my stance clear. This game doesn’t matter for the Bills for this season. They will get backups in and guys who need more reps, to continue to see the strength of the depth of this team. It’s important for championship teams. You must have viable guys ready to fill in, in the event of a starter being injured. That’s what this game will consist of for Buffalo. Giving other players and backups a chance to play to determine their role on the team going forward. Where does this piece fit, do I move this piece out, can I trade this piece in the off-season, this piece may fit better in this scheme on a different team. Lots of possibilities. They’ll still be trying to win, but this will be a time on task game. Getting guys ready for their future roles next season, or even come playoff time.
