What Could've Been...

What could’ve been such a highly coveted matchup, has now turn into a basically nothing game. The Seahawks eliminated themselves from contention with their loss to their loss to the Cardinals. They lost the following week the Packers, so they would’ve been eliminated there, but had they won both those games, they’d be fighting for the division this week. Unfortunately, there were other plans in mind for Seattle this year. They were never able to find a consistent rhythm, never able to stay on a hot streak until later in the season, and at that point they were already in a hole. Geno Smith played well this year, finishing with over 4,000 yards passing and 17 TDs. He did have 15 INTs and took 48 sacks this year, so there is work to be done, but it’s not all on Geno. Their defense fell apart after playing well and had become the gel of this team. All it takes is one mistake, and your road can be excavated. That’s the way she goes sometimes. You must win when you have to win. You can’t escape that fate.
For the Rams, they may rest all their starters. Matthew Stafford will not be suiting up, meaning Jimmy Garoppalo will be at the helm this weekend. It has not been stated yet, but I’d bet most of the Rams starting offense and defense will be sitting this weekend. Guys like Puca Nacua, Cooper Kupp, Kyren Williams, and Christian Rozeboom. The outcome of this game doesn’t matter, not to Los Angeles, so go get your backups some reps, and give your starters some rest before crunch time. I like the Seahawks because the Rams will have backups in, but again, these games are toss-ups.
