Show Them Who You Are.

Let’s see how resilient the Washington Commanders truly are. We’ve seen some highs, and we’ve seen some lows, but how can they respond in times they have to? I know that this game against the New Orleans Saints is going to prove what kind of team they are. After coming off a win against the Titans, they had a late bye week, giving them some rest. They come back against the Saints, who have won three out of the last four, only losing to the Rams. This is a game of two tales. The first being can the Saints hold it together. They aren’t out of playoff contention, but they just loss Derek Carr last week against the Giants, and they almost lost to a miserable Giants team. They held Kamara in the ground game, and Carr didn’t light them up in the passing game. But now without him, how does your offense, let alone your team, operate? Ben DiNucci will be playing QB for the Saints, and while he’s had success in league before, he’s only going to have a few days to get ready and mesh with the team. Couple that with the Saints low ranking offense and defense, they may have some trouble this week.
What I would love to see is Jayden Daniels and the Commanders come out and fire on all cylinders. Before beating the Titans, the Commanders had lost to the Cowboys, Eagles, and Steelers. Some tough teams there, and some close games, but not the late stretch of losing Washington was looking for. Especially since they are fighting for a wildcard spot and those three losses hurt them, considering two of them were division losses. That being said, I am a fan of Jayden Daniels and the Commanders, I like the culture and team they’ve created, they have a talented roster with a bunch of young guys, they are going to be here for a while. I don’t see a problem for the Commanders this weekend, who are 5th in total offense and 12th in total defense, and should be able to handle a weaker and hurt Saints team.
POSTGAME:
Who knew the Saints had that in them? I certainly didn’t. I can’t believe they came all the way back, just to lose on a failed two-point conversion. It’s hard to feel good about a comeback if you can’t complete it, but I imagine the Saints locker room feels good about competing with a tough Washington team. Especially with Jake Haener starting at QB, getting benched, and then Spencer Rattler coming in to start the second half. It’s hard to be successful with no consistency at QB. But they still almost came back, and that must feel good during a tough season with an interim head coach and a lot of injuries. Credit to the Commanders for sort of holding them off, but they’re going to need to ratchet it down if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. They have an important divisional game against the Eagles next week.
