There have been a few developing stories about some of the new rookies. Some have been good, some have been bad, but all of them have an impact on their teams. Let’s break down some big ones.
Right now, in Cincinatti, Bengals first round pick has held out from all team practices, optional or not, because he’s holding out for a better contract. Now, let me preface that with this; this is another player who has yet to play a snap in the NFL. Demanding more money. Shemar Stewart cited Trey Hendrickson not getting a deal and holding out, but my guy, you are not Trey Hendrickson. I understand both sides, but players who act like millions of dollars aren’t enough money need a reality check. Go work a 9-5 and check back in. Anyway, not a great start for the Bengals and their supposed supreme pass rusher. I understand they want more guaranteed money but go show why you deserve it on the field. Not in the locker room in front of the media.
Trey Amos has been making headlines out of Washington early. The physical corner from Ole Miss has been showing out in OTAs, rookie camp, and minicamp. There is even a report that he pushed Mike Sainristil to the slot position due to Amos’ dominance outside. He has been impressing them since his first workouts, and now he is making his way to finding a roster spot early.
As if the Buccaneers needed another extremely talented WR in their room. As if Mike Evans and Chris Godwin wasn’t enough to deal with, TB went out and got OSU WR Emeka Egbuka. This man is a tactician and that’s putting it sincerely light. The threats from this team at receiver is insane. Evans and Godwin will have eyes on them all game, leaving Egbuka much more available, until teams realize they’re letting a demon run free on the field. He is going to be so positive for this offense, it’s a little scary.
Cam Ward. Probably the least covered first overall pick of the century. An absolute stud this guy will be. There are very little concerns with Ward right now, as everyone in Tennessee seems to be happy with their selection. He’s got a lightning arm, he’s super athletic and strong, and can extend plays with his legs and arms. He is showing to be a consistent leader for this team, and his coaches praise his coachability. Let me say this, Ward has made some errors in camp, like any rookie will, but the Titans his ability correct and learn from his mistakes early. This guy is going to be fun to watch.
A little less friendly headline that came out this morning. Quishon Judkins, the OSU RB who was bound to have a promising career, was arrested on domestic violence charges. This is unfortunately a little on par with Browns organization, they tend to take, shall we say more troubled prospects. It happens with every team, but the Browns really get the short end of this stick. We will see where Judkins falls shortly, but this is going to hurt the Browns RB room.
