Righting the Ship?

With Daniel Jones being named the starter for Indianapolis a few weeks ago, the Colts have an interesting path ahead of them. They take on the Dolphins first week, a team struggling in their own right.

For the Dolphins, this season is more about righting the ship than making a statement game one. They finished 8-9 last season and were pushed out of playoff contention by the Broncos. Tua looked out of rhythm, Tyreek Hill was injured and was not a threat like usual, and their run game needed a lot of work. They get back basically their original cast, alongside some new names in Darren Waller and returning favorite Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Dolphins need some cohesion and punctuality in their ability to execute. Their defense was their foundation, but let’s see that white hot Miami offense churn like we are accustomed to seeing.

As for the Colts, I’m not sure where to begin. There has been a lot of confusion and lack of understanding from this team. First, they bounced between Anthony Richardson and Jones for who would be the starter, which they just named recently. But everyone knows Daniel Jones comes with some baggage. Mental and physical. He needs to play exceptionally well if he wishes to stay on the field, because his leash is not long. The Colts added sensational rookie TE Tyler Warren, who if given the opportunity, will show you why I’m so excited for him, (as many people are.) I like the Dolphins here away against the Colts. I just think Miami is a little further along than the Colts in terms of being able to compete. But, I will say, I think if the Colts can play loose on Sunday, and it could be dangerous for the Dolphins.
