Close your eyes Giants fans, this one is going to get ugly. Shorter analysis on this one, as it’s pretty much open and shut. The Giants are going to get steamrolled by Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. They may keep it competitive for like, a few minutes, but the game is going to get out of hand pretty quickly. The Ravens come into this game first in the league in total offense and are second in the AFC North at 8-5. They have lost some games they should’ve won, as they dropped games to the Browns and Raiders, but they are still on track to make the playoffs. What they shouldn’t do, is underperform against a bad Giants team, and after losing two of the last four games, they can use this as sort of a “get right” game. Lamar Jackson was playing at an MVP level earlier this year, less so now, but he still playing at an unbelievable level, throwing for almost 3,300 yards and 29 passing TDs. It’s been a little bit of a “down” year rushing for Lamar, but that’s only due to the wonderful addition of Derrick Henry, who has rushed for 1,400 yards and 13 TDs. While Baltimore’s defense is more middle of the pack statistically, they just need to relax and play their game. They’re playing Drew Lock; it should be fine.
The same should be said for the Giants, just in a different emphasis. They should play relaxed, try just have just a little offensive production, and minimize the mistakes. That’s really it. When you’re 2-11 and eliminated from playoff contention, it’s kind of all you really can do. They’re going to have to find something, precisely in the passing game. The Ravens give up a league low 82 yards on the ground, so Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary are going to have a harder time behind the Giants already banged up offensive line. That being said, the Ravens do give up a league high 264 yards in the air, so it’s kind of a double-edged sword for Baltimore’s defense. I’m hoping and praying Brian Daboll will try and get some things going in the passing game early, and maybe it will then open some things for Tracy and co. Just play with some New York heart like you did last week, it can’t get any worse.
POSTGAME:
To put it simply, the New York Giants were just outgunned today. They didn’t have the roster to compete with this Baltimore Ravens team. Lamar Jackson was basically perfect through one half and finished this game going 21/25 for 290 yards and FIVE TDs. As well as 66 rushing yards. A staggering stat line. They had Josh Johnson and their backups on offense and defense in with half the fourth quarter left. The Giants competed with the guys they had, and that’s all you can really say when more than half of your starters are injured, get injured in the game, or got injured in this game. Oh, and did I mention that Tim Boyle coming in to start the second half made it the Giant’s fourth different starting QB this season. Real recipe for success. Baltimore came in and did what they needed to do, and the Giants could only sit and watch as the Ravens blew by them on their way to the playoffs.
