Following Footsteps?

Another second year QB who made a name for himself will battle a rookie QB who in my opinion, has not been talked about nearly enough by the media. Bo Nix and Cam Ward will be battling it out in week one, and I am excited for this matchup.

On the one hand you have Bo Nix, who led his team to the playoffs as a rookie. I was skeptical of Nix for a while, and I still am a little bit, but he showed some impressive stuff on tape last year for a rookie. And leading your team, as a rookie, to the playoffs is a huge feat. They ultimately lost in the Wild Card to the Bills, where they got walloped, but that’s ok. The Broncos have impressive players at their skill positions, and a defense that is just as deadly. I think this is one of those few times you can say it’s going to fall a lot on Bo Nix’s shoulders. He’s got the pieces; can he make the puzzle? I like the Broncos this year and I think they will be a team to beat if they can figure it out early.

There is a lot of buzz with Cam Ward, deservingly so. He is a proven, vocal leader who is trying to turn this franchise around. It’s not going to be easy, and I don’t think they will make serious headway this year. But Cam Ward is special. He is gifted in his ability to throw downfield, short, or medium, he can move out of the pocket with ease, and he is beyond athletic. They need help kind of everywhere. From skill position, to offensive and defensive line, to the secondary, Tennessee needs to continue to build. But just because you’re building, doesn’t mean you can’t try and win some games now. Ward’s competitive spirit will be infectious in the locker room, and if he can back that up with decent play, the Titans may shock some teams occasionally. I think the Broncos win at home Week 1, but I expect to see some things out of Cam Ward that make me say, “yeah, he was #1 overall for a reason.”
