I don’t even know what to say about the Chiefs anymore. They’re 12-1, but we all saw the game last week. I have no words. Just at an utter loss of speech. Heartbreaking stuff for the Chargers, but they will be fine. Looking at this game, I only have one point to focus on for the Chiefs, and that is clean up your act. They will be facing a recently eliminated Cleveland Browns team who just lost to the Steelers. The Chief’s defense has been stellar all year, really the backbone of this team. They will need their defense to play well again, as Jameis Winston has made it a habit in recent weeks to connect with newer addition to the Browns, Jerry Jeudy. In his last five games, Jeudy has 599 receiving yards and 3 TDs, which is a step up from the production he’s been used during his time in Denver. Look for him to be sought after again, as well as guys like Elijah Moore, who has seen more action the last few weeks. It's going to be tough for the Browns to win this game, it would be for pride, but let’s not discount how many close games the Chiefs have had this season…
If you’re a Chiefs fan, front office worker, player, or coach, please listen. This is your game. This is the time you go out there and show everyone why you won two Super Bowls in a row. Patrick Mahomes needs to keep playing at the level we are all accustomed to seeing, and their offense needs to start clicking. Right away. I will not have much defense for the Chiefs if they win another close game, especially to an eliminated, bad Cleveland Browns team (sorry browns fans.) I repeat, this is the game to prove yourself, because outside of the city of Kansas City, no one believes in this team due to their close, tentative performances. Flip the script, dominate this win, and roll into the next week trying to do the same thing. That’s the message I’d be telling the Chiefs if I was head coach. I can’t coach games for them, and that’s probably a good thing because they would definitely lose then.
POSTGAME:
The Chiefs handled the Browns with ease, not much worry there. Where there was concern, was with Patrick Mahomes, who left in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury after being rolled up on. I’m sure every sports news outlet has already told you, but if not, allow me to share with you that his X-Rays were negative, and he’ll be fine. He threw a pair of TDs to JuJu Smith-Schuster and Noah Gray, and the Chiefs finished with 138 yards on the ground. A better game for them in the sense that they handily won that game, with no questions after the fact. Against the Browns sure, but we talked about this. They needed one of these games, and they got it. Let’s see them carry it onto next week.
