Fact or Fiction?

Welcome back NFL Fans. The wait is almost over. Stay strong, we are right there. There have been lots of rumors, tidbits, and analysis made on the new rookies of the league. As well as conjecture about teams. For this post, we will go over some Fact or Fiction. We have been hearing a lot from NFL media, but let’s dive in and clear the air. Not everything is black and white.

Fact #1: The Eagles will dominate again.

This one is somewhat of a no brainer. Notice how I didn’t say the Eagles will win a Super Bowl, but rather, they will dominate again. They have a lights out offense, headed by Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, and A.J Brown. They know how to score and keep a lead, as they were 8th in the league in total offense and 7th in scoring. As for their defense, they were 1st in total defense last year. They got some studs between Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Zach Baun, Cooper DeJean, and they just added Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell. The Eagles are going to be scary for anyone they face.

Fact #2: Shedeur Sanders is not guaranteed a roster spot.

Not what the NFL PR machine wants to hear, but that’s the truth. No one is guaranteed outside the first round, and even then, sometimes they don’t pan out. But Shedeur dropping from a seemingly locked up first round pick to fifth shows the NFL is not as high on him as everyone thought. Between his speeding tickets in a residential area, a CFL team buying his rights early, or being the only Browns QB to not get first team reps, it’s not looking great. Still, there is all of training camp to turn it around. With Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett already on the roster, the choice lands between Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. And right now, most reports have the Browns placing Gabriel above Sanders.

Fact #3: Adding Jeanty will bring Offensive Production for LV.

Ashton Jeanty is one of those superstar players. One that will come in and change your franchise form the moment he steps on the field. Yes, he is a running back and was taken highly and will be worth a fair amount of money in time. But for the last three years, the Raiders have been in the bottom tier of rushing rankings. The OL must be intact for Jeanty to be successful, but he will provide a positive impact regardless of if he has a better OL than last year’s Raider’s team.

Fiction #1: Joe Milton will be Dak’s replacement.

Everyone was hot on former Patriots draft pick Joe Milton. Milton, who has not gotten too much playing time, has impressed teams when he did. Hence all the energy trying to acquire him this offseason. He has a rocket arm, is mobile and extremely athletic. Exactly the makeup NFL teams look for in a QB. For Milton to replace Dak, Prescott would have to have an insanely dismal year, and Milton would have to play opposite and lead the Cowboys to a playoff win. By himself. I think it’s a little far-fetched for right now. But who knows.

Fiction #2: The Chiefs will be better than last year.

It’s not that I think the Chiefs have hit a ceiling, because they still have the best QB in the league (argue with a wall.) They got washed out in the Super Bowl by the Eagles. It wasn’t even close. The Chiefs need help tightening up on defense, and they need more help on offense. Travis Kelce is getting older, and his production is going to start to go down. Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown are good, but they need a true WR1. They can’t roll into this season with the same gameplan.

Fiction #3: J.J McCarthy isn’t ready.

J.J McCarthy has gotten the full support of Minnesota since last year. He has yet to play a snap in the NFL as he was hurt all last year. But here come the Vikings, believing in their Michigan pick who was not high on many boards that year. That being said, he could prove me wrong. I just think it’s wildly ambitious to assume he is your starting QB and will be good when not a single snap has been taken yet.
