Be Better Against Bad

Another AFC team on the bubble that will be scratching and clawing for the rest of the season. Every game counts, (I sound like a broken record.) I do, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. The Colts have won two of the last three, so they’re doing the right things. Anthony Richardson was going to have to be better, as in their two wins, he threw for barely over 100 yards in both games and had INTs in both games. But now, due to injury, he has been downgraded to OUT for this weeks game. While Jonathon Taylor did rush for 218 yards against the Titans last week, and it was OK, there must be some consistent play from their QB this week. And Joe Flacco will be getting the start again, so he's got a perfect opportunity this week against a very, very bad Giants team. The Giants have a slightly below average defense, add some injuries to the mix and they’ve become malleable. They allow around 142 yards per game on the ground, about 200 per game in the air, and give up close to 25 points a game. The Colts, who are a middle of the pack offense, have the chance to “get right” against the Giants. Find Josh Downs and your receivers, get Taylor the ball, and it’ll be fine.
The Giants have one motivating factor this week; this is the last game they have to win at home. They’re 0-8 at home. They have a poor defense and an even more poor offense. They have a merry-go-round at QB and have been constantly shuffling offensive linemen like they’re playing cards due to injury. They have yet to catch a break all season. I’m sure the atmosphere has not been super pleasant, and they have definitely lost a lot of motivation to win, but they can rally this week and do it. This is their last chance, and it may mess with their first overall pick, but I know they want to win. They haven’t been winless at home since they discovered the army of terracotta warriors. 1974. That was the last time. 50 years ago. This is their fuel this week, overcome a dismal record that hasn’t happened to you in 50 years. Malik Nabers is going to be a gametime decision due to a lingering toe injury, which will greatly hinder Drew Lock in his second straight start. Best of luck to the G-Men, if they can string it together, maybe they win, but I may grow wings and fly tonight too.
POSTGAME:
In an UNTHINKABLE turn of events, the New York Giants avoided going winless at home for the first time since 1974. And, they knocked the Colts out of the playoffs. A win-win one might say. The Giants finally scored 30 points, and they heard everyone complaining and decided to score 45. Drew Lock played the best game of his life, totaling for over 300 yards passing, 4 TDs and zero INTs. Malik Nabers had his legacy game too, going for 171 yards receiving and 2 TDs. Tyrone Tracy and Nabers became the third rookie duo ever to both record 1000+ yards from scrimmage in their first season. Quite a remarkable feat considering how bad this team kind of is. But they looked like a determined team that wanted to win, first time all year. The team is happy, especially to dodge that ugly losing stat, but because this is their profession and livelihood. I’m sure some fans are torn about draft picks, but these guys play and practice every week to win, not to lose games. We as fans do not get to make the calls, and if you think as a fan, you were depressed watching the Giants play bad football, imagine how the players and coaches felt. That’s my two cents. Congrats to the Giants, MetLife Stadium, the Mara and Tisch Families, this one had to feel good after such a dismal season.
