An (Almost) Implication-less Game

A battle of unimportance, one that may be thrown by the wayside in terms of overall importance on the future standings of this season. I don’t mean to be so harsh, it’s just that when two teams who are already eliminated from playoff contention are playing, no matter the outcome, it’s just having no effect on anything that important. I say that emotionless. The Jaguars are still without Trevor Lawrence and had a tougher time with Mac Jones last week. While he did throw 2 INTs, he did have 220 yards in the air and had some key throws on the drive that brough them a game-winning TD. But Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, while still playing below average, they have lost close games to the Dolphins and Seahawks in their last two games, proving that they can fight. It’s just about closing out those games. Rodgers had 339 yards passing and 1 TD against the Dolphins, and Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson looked like that wide receiver tandem everyone dreamed them of being, but they must string it together and find a way to win for their pride. While it is still unclear, Rodgers talks about wanting to play next year, for the Jets. I mentioned this last week, but if that is the case, Rodgers is going to need to keep putting good games on tape. I like the Jets this week. They were able to win on the road earlier this year against a bad Titans team, I think they can have repeated success against a bad Jaguars team.

POSTGAME:

How about Davante Adams??  A game in which Aaron Rodgers and Adams sorely needed. Forget that, Jets fans and the organization needed that if there was any hope of Rodgers coming back next year. Yes, the Jaguars are bad, but who cares? A win for worse teams helps a bad season taste better, and as Giants legend Carl Banks says, “these are running resumes.” Putting good tape out there is essential, and Rodgers and Adams did that today. Rodgers was 16/30 for 289 yards and 3 TDs, two of those going to Adams, who had 9 catches for 198 yards. Back-to-back weeks over 100 yards receiving for Adams. It doesn’t matter that both teams are out of playoff contention, this was a huge win for Rodgers and the Jets as they finish out the season.
